Swap eGUI for Sota UI
Replace GAMMA Enhanced GUI with Sota's UI Rework. Load order matters, or the ROMEO menu breaks MCM, Settings and New Game.

Sota UI isn’t in the ROMEO list. Download UI Rework G.A.M.M.A. Style by Sota from ModDB first.
Why it breaks: ROMEO’s main menu mod ships its own copies of the MCM, Settings and New Game screens (
ui_mcm.xml,ui_options_16.xml,ui_options.dds,ui_mm_faction_select.xml). If ROMEO Menu loads after Sota, those old eGUI-style files win, and MCM and Settings freeze or look broken. Sota has its own version of every one of these files, so the fix is load order.
1. Install Sota
- Close the game and back up your MO2 profile.
- In MO2, choose Install a new mod from an archive (Ctrl+M) and pick the Sota download. Follow its installer:
- Tick Main (Required) and Base (GAMMA).
- Pick the (GAMMA) version of every option and skip every (Anomaly) one. The readme says the Anomaly options are either built into GAMMA already or don’t work with it.
- The Styles and Patches pages are personal taste.
2. Turn off eGUI
Under the CLIKRΔD - UI separator, untick the four GAMMA Enhanced GUI mods:
- Bandit Edition
- MCM
- HUD
- Inventory
3. Fix the load order
In MO2’s left pane, the lower a mod sits, the higher its priority. Drag UI Rework G.A.M.M.A. Style to the bottom of the CLIKRΔD - UI group, just above the CLIKRΔD - Gameplay separator.
That puts Sota above everything else in the UI group, so its MCM, Settings, New Game, message box and inventory screens win over:
- ROMEO Menu’s old copies of the menu screens. You can keep xx-CLIKRΔD ROMEO Menu - Victor turned on, and its main menu background and music still work.
- Realistic Weapon Loadout’s inventory layout.
Don’t drag it all the way to the bottom of the list. That would also put it above FART (in CLIKRΔD - Gameplay) and replace FART’s artefact belt script with Sota’s.
4. Use Sota’s workbench layout
FART ships its own workbench layout, which doesn’t match Sota’s workbench skin. Make Sota’s layout win while keeping FART’s crafting logic:
- In MO2, double-click xx-[FART] Fully-restored Artefact Radiation Treatment - Erandis and open the Filetree tab.
- Go to
gamedata/configs/ui/, right-clickui_workshop.xml, and choose Hide. Do the same forui_workshop_16.xml.
5. Check it
Launch the game and open MCM, Settings and New Game from the main menu. All three should open and respond. Open a workbench too. Sota’s own options are in MCM → SVUI x UI Rework.
Notes
- PDA messages look tiny? Sota includes a script that shrinks PDA pop-ups. If you followed Bring the HUD back and want normal-sized messages, open the Sota mod’s Filetree tab and hide
gamedata/scripts/modxml_ui_pda_msg.script. - If you’d rather not deal with load order, untick ROMEO Menu instead. You’ll get Sota’s main menu.
Undo this tweak
- Close the game. In MO2, untick UI Rework G.A.M.M.A. Style. Keep the installed mod until you’ve checked that the original UI works again.
- Re-enable the four GAMMA Enhanced GUI mods you disabled: Bandit Edition, MCM, HUD, and Inventory.
- Re-enable xx-CLIKRΔD ROMEO Menu - Victor if you turned it off. Restore any priorities you changed using your pre-tweak MO2 profile backup.
- In the FART mod, restore the original
gamedata/configs/ui/ui_workshop.xmlandui_workshop_16.xmlfiles from your pre-tweak file backup if you hid them. A profile backup alone does not restore changes to installed mod files. - Launch the game and check MCM, Settings, New Game, and a workbench again.
If you also hid Sota’s modxml_ui_pda_msg.script, that file has no effect while Sota is disabled. Restore it from your file backup before using Sota again if you want its original PDA message sizing.
